Who are we?
New Leaf Wellbeing College is a Hertfordshire-based wellbeing college, managed and delivered by Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT) in partnership with the charity Hertfordshire Mind Network (HMN), which manages and delivers the college's peer engagement programme.
Why do we need to collect information and how do we use it?
New Leaf Wellbeing College collects personal identifiable information including your name, email address, home address and mobile/landline telephone numbers. We also collect information on your wellbeing (based on the nationally recognised Short Warwick-Edinburgh Mental Wellbeing Scale (SWEMWBS), information about the services your receive support from and information relating to your age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, religious belief and any disability. This information enables us to:
- Provide you with our services and send you information relating to those services
- Ensure we know how you prefer to be contacted
- Monitor our performance and gain an understanding of where we could improve
- Promote equality of opportunity for people who share a protected characteristic (as required by the public sector equality duty set out in the Equality Act 2010)
In compliance with GDPR/Data Protection Act 2018 and PECR (Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations), we are establishing an ‘opt-in only’ communication policy, meaning that we will only send marketing communications to you if you have explicitly stated that you are happy for us to do so. In the case of emails, there will be a clear ‘unsubscribe’ button at the bottom of each email should you change your mind.
Information sharing in the context of this policy means the disclosure to a third party organisation. New Leaf Wellbeing College may share information with our third party partner Hertfordshire Mind Network (HMN) where it relates specifically to the delivery of the college’s peer engagement programme. New Leaf Wellbeing College may also share information with our funding bodies (Herts Valley Clinical Commissioning Group, North & East Herts Clinical Commissioning Group and Hertfordshire County Council) for the purposes of monitoring the performance of the college. In this instance, the data shared will be anonymised and no personal identifiable information will be disclosed. New Leaf Wellbeing College will not rent, sell or disclose your personal details to any other third party.
New Leaf Wellbeing College will disclose your personal information, without notice, only if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on New Leaf Wellbeing College or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of New Leaf Wellbeing College; and (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of New Leaf College, or the public.
Storage and retention of data
We are committed to keeping your private data safe. We ensure that there are appropriate technical controls in place to protect your personal details. For example, information stored in our secure database is encrypted and accredited security controls are in place to protect it from threat.
We do not retain data longer than is either legally permissible or reasonable. We take care to destroy data responsibly, following guidelines laid down in the Data Protection legislation.
