As part of our ethos of involving people with lived wellbeing experience in the day to day running and delivery of the college, we encourage students to volunteer with us.  Volunteering can be very rewarding, allowing you to meet new people, utilise your strengths, gain new skills and ‘give something back’ to support people who can benefit from your knowledge of using the college.

We have a number of volunteer roles at the college, including:

Meet & greet volunteer - to welcome students to college venues, direct them to the classroom and provide company and conversation to students whilst they are awaiting their classes.

Classroom assistant – to support students in the classroom, such as assisting students who have additional support needs.

Administrator – helping with general administrative tasks in the college office, such as printing course packs and mailing out timetables.

Volunteers are required to undertake a welcome induction, covering:

  • Health and safety
  • Understanding service users’ needs
  • Confidentiality and disclosure
  • Equality and diversity
  • Safeguarding
  • Conflict resolution in difficult situations
  • Communication and listening skills

Volunteering for the college is not a paid activity but out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed (mileage or public transport costs).
