What can help
What can help

Storytelling is one of the foundations of our culture. We can create connections by sharing stories – especially those that offer inspiration and hope. Recovery in mental health is not always well understood; sharing your story makes personal recovery come alive. It also supports values and strengthens lessons learned from life experiences. It helps to build community and create connections.

You can find lots of inspirational stories; use the search bar at the top to find stories relevant to you. To return to this page after a search, please press the back button in your browser.

Alternatively if you are a registered student and would like to write your story and want to share it, please contact us. You can read about other students experiences on our testimonials page and learn more about getting involved on our student development programme page.

Autumn 2022 Timetable Release

We are pleased to announce the release of the latest timetable for the Autumn term, due to start on the 5th September.

Our assertive communication skills workshop has been a huge hit and will be returning this term, along with:

  • Pain- the role of acceptance Seminar
  • Pressures of daily living
  • Making sense of voices
  • Having a positive relationship with social media

From the Autumn term, we will be returning to the classroom; offering sessions in Stevenage, Watford, Ware, and Hemel Hempstead; and will continue to provide sessions online. Download a copy of our latest timetable or visit our venues page for more information.

We are aware some people will not be able to get into classroom venues easily, may experience digital poverty, and cannot access our courses online. With this in mind, we urge students who require additional support to attend out courses to get in touch with their local library, digital inclusion project, healthy hub, job centre or citizen advice bureau to discuss support options. The  digital inclusion and IT skills support leaflet provides helpful numbers and information that may be of interest. Please contact us to request a printout of this leaflet, or download a copy from our website at https://www.newleafcollege.co.uk/digital-skills-and-inclusion.

If you are a professional and would like to facilitate allowing your local residents to access our online courses through a local venue, please contact us.

Students do not need a diagnosis to enrol, but must be over 18 and living in Hertfordshire. They can enrol directly through the website, or they can call 01442 864966. For more information about the college, our courses, recovery and development opportunities, visit us at www.newleafcollege.co.uk

The summer term has officially ended, but the college remains open in the meantime. If you have any queries, please email newleaf.wellbeingcollege@nhs.net or call 01442 864966.
