What can help
What can help

Storytelling is one of the foundations of our culture. We can create connections by sharing stories – especially those that offer inspiration and hope. Recovery in mental health is not always well understood; sharing your story makes personal recovery come alive. It also supports values and strengthens lessons learned from life experiences. It helps to build community and create connections.

You can find lots of inspirational stories; use the search bar at the top to find stories relevant to you. To return to this page after a search, please press the back button in your browser.

Alternatively if you are a registered student and would like to write your story and want to share it, please contact us. You can find out more about getting involved on our student development programme page.

Health Action Day

Health Action Day

We’re attending!

Health action day, hosted by Lifestyles Stevenage, is a day dedicated to providing help, support and information for all health and wellbeing needs. In recognition of the importance of communication and education, this event aims to signpost visitors to services and show that there is always someone to help – whatever your problem.

New Leaf Recovery and Wellbeing college will be one of the supporting organisations attending, alongside Mind In Mid Herts, No More Services, The Living Room, Citizens Advice Stevenage, Create Community CIC, Healthy Hub Stevenage, Young Peoples Healthy Hub, Step2skills, Herts vision loss and much more!

As well as stalls at this event, there will be a timetable of activities for all visitors to take part in; including trial sessions for an anti-gravity treadmill and Functional Stimulation Bike suitable for chronic medical conditions and disabilities; not to mention, there will be a number of health tests, sports activities and presentations from organisations and professionals.

We invite anyone already attending the college as well as those who want to get to know the friendly faces behind the college before they join. The college will be represented by experts by experience who will be happy to share their experiences of attending the college, as well as our student development co-ordinator and marketing co-ordinator, both of whom used to be students too!

Come and visit us on September 18th 2021 between 10:00am and 14:00pm at the Stevenage Arts and Leisure Centre, Lytton Way, Stevenage, Hertfordshire, SG1 1LZ.
