About the course
This course will be focusing on Extreme States which can include:
-
Unusual perceptual experiences – seeing, hearing, tasting things, others do not. These can sometime be referred to as ‘Hallucinations’
-
Unusual/idiosyncratic beliefs – beliefs that others in our wider culture may not share, these can sometimes be referred to as ‘delusions’.
-
Unusual perceptual experiences, describes experiencing something via our senses that others do not.
-
We might hear someone calling or whispering our name when those around us do not. We might see something moving in our peripheral vison, see shapes or figures or fully realised people. Some people might also experience unusual smells, tastes or sensations.
To complement this course, there is a Personal support plan to capture both your own experiences and anything you may learn from the course, that might help for better understanding and managing your experiences in future.
Learning Objectives:
- Gain understanding of extreme states, altered states and unusual experiences
- Recognise a range of perspectives around extreme states as part of the human experience
- Develop strategies to help manage extreme states
This course takes place over two and a half hours in one session.
