Code of conduct

To help create a safe, respectful and welcoming environment for everyone, all students are expected to follow this Code of Conduct.

By enrolling in the college, you agree to:

  • Respect other people’s rights, choices, identity, beliefs, opinions and personal space.
  • Value everyone’s voice and contribution.
  • Interact responsibly by treating others with kindness and understanding.
  • Take responsibility for your own wellbeing and ask for support when you need it.
  • Be ready to learn by arriving on time, being prepared and telling us if you cannot attend.

Confidentiality

You do not have to share personal information during a course. If you choose to share something personal, please treat anything shared by others as confidential.

What is said in a session should stay in the group, unless there is a serious risk of harm or we are required by law to share information. Where possible, we will discuss this with you first.

Alcohol, drugs and smoking

Please do not attend College activities under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances. Please do not bring or use them during College activities.

The College is non-smoking. If you wish to smoke or vape, please follow the venue’s policy.

Equality, diversity and inclusion

The College does not tolerate discrimination, bullying, harassment or violence. This behaviour may lead to suspension or permanent exclusion.

Some of our courses may be in venues outside your local area. We cannot provide transport.

If you need support to participate in a course, please contact us in advance so that we can discuss your needs and any reasonable adjustments.

Fair access to learning opportunities

Although our courses are free to attend, there are costs associated with delivering them. Students are expected to cancel any course they can no longer attend. This allows places to be offered to other students and supports fair access to courses. Courses can be cancelled online via your account, or by contacting the college.

Students who do not attend a course without cancelling may be contacted by the College to discuss any support needs and explore any barriers to attendance.

Online courses

To take part in online courses your device must have a camera, and it must be switched on during registration. We do this to complete the register and confirm attendance. If your camera is off, you will be returned to the waiting room until you can rejoin with video enabled. This helps us keep everyone safe.

We encourage you to keep your camera on during sessions where possible, as this supports connection and participation.

Learning agreements

At the start of each course, the group creates a learning agreement. This supports the College ethos and helps everyone take part safely and respectfully.

Communication and data protection

Emails and text messages about your courses, course feedback and timetables are essential to delivering our services. These communications are a condition of enrolment and cannot be opted out of while you are a student.

Other marketing messages are optional, and you can choose not to receive them. You can update your consent preferences at any time by logging into your account and visiting the consent preferences page.

The College takes your personal data seriously and follows relevant data protection legislation.
