How it helps your recovery

Moving forward by giving back

It’s no secret that a key part of recovery includes one of the five ways to wellbeing – which is to give back!

As well as giving you something to focus on, improving your confidence and providing you with a sense of purpose, studies show that giving to others helps to combat stress, depression and anxiety.

There are a number of simple ways to give back, such as by planting trees, volunteering at your local community centre and helping at charitable events. Joining these activities would also help to reduce loneliness, something that we know many people are still experiencing today.

The college offers students the opportunity to move forward in their recovery and give back by joining the student development programme and becoming an expert by experience.

However, if you’re also looking for opportunities outside of the college, there are plenty of opportunities. Get in touch to find out if there are any exciting activities to join, such as recovery conferences, research projects, surveys and more.
