Acknowledging our senses
Acknowledging our senses

About the course

On this course, you will learn about how we use our senses to understand the world. We will consider how you might respond to different sensory experiences while learning some techniques to cope with sensory overload. You will begin to develop some strategies to understand and change your sensory environment to suit your preferences. You will also consider ways you might communicate your sensory needs to others, particularly regarding daily tasks and meaningful activities.

Tutors will enhance this by sharing examples of their own sensory experiences and strategies that have worked for them.

Learning Objectives:

  • To understand what the 8 sensory systems are
  • To gain an understanding of how each sensory system is activated
  • To know how sensations affect people
  • To start to reflect on your own personal experiences of each sensory system
  • To set a personal sensory goal

This course takes place over two hours in one session.
